Greensboro Police On Scene At Fatal Officer Involved Shooting At Sheetz On Sandy Ridge Road

Update – The Greensboro Police Chief Thompson has provided an update in the shooting that claimed the life of an officer. Around 4 p.m. at the Sheetz at 3202 Sandy Ridge Road, an off-duty Sergeant with the Greensboro Police Department observed a crime occurring. The officer approached the suspects before being shot.

Another off-duty officer and a Guilford County paramedic were on the scene and rendered aid immediately. The Sergeant was transported to a hospital where he passed away. Greensboro Police say he was a husband, father, son, and brother with 22 years of service to the department.

More information will be released in the days ahead.

Original Story – Officers with the Greensboro Police Department are on scene at the Sheetz on Sandy Ridge Road. Raleigh Police Department announced that an officer with the Greensboro Police Department had been fatally shot.

A large police presence remains at the scene at 7:00 p.m.

Greensboro Police Department is actively looking for two Black males in their mid-20s driving a black Chevrolet Equinox with a North Carolina Hertz license plate KKA-4332.

According to a social media post from North Wilkesboro Police Department, the suspects have been apprehended.

The deceased officer has been identified Sergeant Dale Nix.
