Bay County Sheriff’s Office announces arrests of 30-year-old man who went on violent crime spree and fled from deputies

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of a Holmes County man after he fled from deputies and Panama City Police Department officers while on a violent crime spree. A BCSO deputy observed 30-year-old Dillon Joshua Hutton on Highway 98 and attempted to carry out a traffic stop.

Police say Hutton fled in his vehicle and entered the Laguna Beach area. On 1st Street, Hutton allegedly attempted to steal an occupied vehicle only to be shot by the vehicle’s owner. Despite being injured, Hutton fled in his own vehicle on Back Beach Road near The Powder Room. He reportedly tried another carjacking but was unsuccessful.

Deputies spotted Hutton again as he traveled east on Back Beach Road. Eventually, Hutton crashed into three vehicles and attempted to carjack one of the vehicles he hit. At this time, he was apprehended. The investigation being carried out by the Panama City Beach Police Department and Bay County Sheriff’s Office suggests Hutton may have committed several vehicle burglaries and theft attempts before being approached by law enforcement.
