Ontario City Police investigating reports of shots fired in the parking lot of Albertsons

The Ontario City Police Department in Oregon is investigating after shots were fired in the parking lot of Albertsons around 9:07 p.m. on December 29, 2023. According to the Ontario City Police Department, the preliminary investigation suggests there was a physical altercation involving two groups of young adults and juveniles in two separate vehicles.

One group was linked to a silver SUV while the other was in a white sedan. The group in the silver SUV left the parking lot on Alameda Drive and began shooting at the group in the white sedan. A juvenile and multiple parked vehicles were struck by gunfire. The group in the white sedan transported the injured juvenile to St. Alphonsus Hospital in Ontario where they dropped him off.

Then, the occupants fled. As officers were responding to the scene, they encountered the white sedan traveling eastbound in the 900 block of Southwest 4th Avenue. Police say the vehicle was driving recklessly and without headlights. It turned south on South Park Boulevard before two officers attempted a traffic stop.

The vehicle continued southbound at a high rate of speed. The sedan lost control and crashed in the cemetery. Two of the occupants fled the area while the other occupant remained at the scene. One fleeing occupant was apprehended. The third occupant remains at large. Police say both juveniles were under the influence of alcohol.

The juvenile who was shot remains in critical but stable condition. The silver SUV was later found and the driver was apprehended without incident. The other subjects of the SUV remain at large.
