The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a homicide in the 5200 block of North Sharon Amity Road in the Hickory Grove Division. Around 2:33 p.m. on October 19, 2023, Hickory Grove Division officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the aforementioned location.

At the scene, officers found an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Hickory Grove Division detectives say they identified the suspect as Terry Lowery who was apprehended on October 24, 2023. At the time, Lowery was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury.

On December 28, 2023, CMPD’s Homicide Unit Detectives were informed that the victim, Donyelle Hill, had passed away. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Murder against Terry Lowery. The Hickory Grove Division’s Crime Reduction Unit arrested Lowery and transported him to the Law Enforcement Center to speak to detectives.

Following the interview, Lowery was placed into the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and charged with murder.
