Louisiana State Police arrest Brogan Fremen for vehicular homicide in a fatal crash on Interstate I-310. The collision claimed the life of Deysha Carter, 26, of Metairie.
Troopers responded to Interstate I-310 near LA 48 in Luling after 12:30 a.m. to investigate a two-vehicle collision. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2021 RAM truck driven by Freman and a 2009 Ford Edge were traveling northbound on I-310 in the right land. For unknown reasons, Freman struck the Ford in the rear. The impact caused the RAM to overturn and the Ford to travel off the roadway.
Fremen and the driver of the Ford Edge were transported to area hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. Carter, a front-seat passenger of the Ford, was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries.
Troopers observed Fremen displaying signs of alcohol impairment at the scene. Fremen’s Blood Alcohol Concentration was over the legal limit.
Fremen was remanded to the St. Charles Parish Jail on first-offense DWI, first-degree vehicular negligent injuring, and reckless operation charges. After Carter succumbed to her injuries, authorities charged Fremen with vehicular homicide.
