Update – The Prince George’s County Police Department Major Crimes Division has identified and charged a suspect in this case. According to detectives, the suspect in the case is 19-year-old Anthony Stewart of Washington DC. Stewart is accused of carjacking an off-duty PGPD officer in Oxon Hill. Detectives are still trying to identify the second suspect.

Original Story – Prince George’s County Department announced an officer-involved shooting on December 28, 2023, at 6:57 p.m. via a social media post. The incident involves an off-duty officer.

Following a preliminary investigation, officers determined an off-duty officer was approached by suspects at about 5:05 p.m. The off-duty officer was putting his family into his private vehicle when the unidentified suspects approached.

The suspects forced the officer and his family out of the vehicle in what authorities believe was a carjacking. At some point in the exchange, the officer discharged his weapon.
