The Peoria Police Department is investigating the death of a man found behind a garage in the 500 block of West Gift. Around 10:08 a.m. on December 27, 2023, officers responded to the aforementioned location in response to a report of a deceased male behind a garage. At the scene, PPD officers found an adult man who was obviously deceased.

Detectives say the initial information indicates that the deceased man was known to be homeless. He was last in contact with residents in the area on Christmas. Peoria County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. The man had no outward signs of trauma.

The Peoria County Coroner will determine the cause and manner of death following an autopsy. At this time, the investigation is ongoing.
