A Pueblo Police Department officer was involved in an officer-involved shooting earlier today following a call about a carjacking. Around 2:11 p.m. on December 26, 2023, the Pueblo Police Department received a call about a carjacking involving a handgun around the intersection of Jerry Murphy Road and Bonneymede Road. PPD located the vehicle on the south side of Pueblo.

Following a pursuit, the suspects crashed into a fence between Broadway Avenue and Michigan Avenue. The suspects fled the vehicle on foot. The first suspect ran westbound through an alley. The second suspect fled eastbound through an alley. When police tried to capture the first suspect, they say the suspect produced a handgun and shots were fired.

The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second suspect was captured following a foot chase and struggle with officers. PPD said no officers were injured in this incident.
