The Sacramento Police Department announced it is investigating a solo vehicle collision near East Commerce Way and North Park Drive. The incident happened around 12:45 a.m. on December 25, 2023. During the investigation, SPD officers learned that a bicyclist was involved in the accident.

The driver of the automobile was taken to a local hospital for treatment for injuries. The cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities say DUI is believed to be a factor leading to the driver’s arrest. Once the driver is medically cleared from the hospital, they will be booked.

Detectives from the Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit responded to assume control of the investigation.
