The New Orleans Police Department is investigating after an adult female was found fatally shot. Police say the murder occurred around 3:26 p.m. in the 100 block of Exchange Place. Eighth District officers were dispatched to the scene of the shooting. Upon arrival, they found the victim lying in the street with at least one gunshot injury.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. At this time, there is no additional information available. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death and release the victim’s identity at a later time.
