Update 2 – Minot Police have identified the victim in this shooting as 41-year-old Nicholas M. VanPelt.

Update – The Minot Police Department has identified the suspect involved in this shooting as 39-year-old Daniel Breijo of Surrey. Breijo is charged with one count of Class AA Felony for Murder and one count of Class A Felony for Attempted Murder. Police say Breijo and his victims were known to each other.

The suspect is being held at the Ward County Jail. A 41-year-old man from Minot is deceased. A 40-year-old female from Minot is being treated at Trinity Hospital.

Original Story – The Minot Police Department announced it is investigating a fatal shooting that happened in a southwest Minot apartment. One male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. A female victim was transported to Trinity Hospital.

Police have not said anything about the extent of the second victim’s injuries. According to MPD, a suspect is in custody. The Minot Police Department expects to release additional details tomorrow.
