The La Marque Police Department announced that it was investigating a suspect drunk driving crash. Just before 6:30 p.m. on December 24, 2023, officers were dispatched to the area of FM 1765 and Duroux in response to a motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and an electric scooter. At the scene, officers observed a Buick Envision stopped in the far right lane.

A black electric scooter was in the left lanes of westbound traffic. The scooter had no lights and was not a registered vehicle. An unresponsive 34-year-old man was observed in the roadway with apparent injuries.

The man was taken to MCH where he was pronounced deceased. A 69-year-old female was placed in custody on suspected intoxicated driving. The final charges will be determined in conjunction with the Galveston District Attorney’s Office.
