The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash on Airline Highway. Traffic Homicide Detectives are investigating the incident which occurred in the 9000 block of Airline Highway around 1:15 a.m. this morning.

Authorities say 22-year-old Jason Dennis and 21-year-old Jonquetta Darville were ejected from a Ford Mustang after the vehicle struck a tree. Detectives say they believe they were possibly drag racing northbound on Airline Highway.

For some unknown reason, Dennis lost control of the vehicle which left the roadway and struck a tree. Dennis and Darville were pronounced deceased at the scene.
