The Utica Police Department is investigating a shooting at the intersection of Burrstone Road and Sunset Avenue. Around 2:20 p.m. on December 24, 2023, Utica Police and Fire units responded to the aforementioned location in response to a gunshot victim inside a vehicle. At the scene, officers were informed that the driver had been struck in the upper abdomen.

The victim was transported to Wynn Hospital where it was determined that his injuries were not life-threatening. Authorities say the incident happened in the 1400 block of Sunset Avenue when the vehicle was traveling southbound and the suspect on foot started shooting at the vehicle.

After the driver was struck, he proceeded to Burrstone Road and called 911. In the 1400 block of Sunset Avenue, officers located several spent shell casings. They are still canvassing for witnesses and video surveillance.
