The Marin County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a man accused of using social media to solicit sex from a minor. On December 8, 2023, 31-year-old Manuel Ajualip Ramirez was arrested for arranging to meet a minor for sex, annoying a child under 18, and resisting arrest. Authorities say the arrest was the result of an investigation that started when a 13-year-old student reported unwanted contact to their teacher.

In return, the teacher reported the allegation to a school resource officer. Authorities say the investigation revealed that 31-year-old Ramirez had solicited the teen for sexual contact. He allegedly contacted the teen through their WhatsApp account to solicit explicit photos and meet for sex.

Undercover detectives with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office watched the proposed meeting place. When Ramirez arrived, detectives attempted to place him under arrest but Ramirez fled. Following a brief foot pursuit, Ramirez was caught. Authorities say he violently resisted but was eventually apprehended.
