The Seattle Police Department is investigating multiple home invasion robberies in Beacon Hill this week. In one of the robberies, police say the owner and suspects exchanged gunfire although there were no reported injuries. On December 18, 2023, officers responded to a report of a home invasion near the intersection of Beacon Avenue South and South Graham Street.
At the scene, a male victim told officers that he had returned from a casino. While walking home, he was approached by several males with guns who forced him to open his front door. Then, they ransacked the home looking for valuables. The suspect took cash before fleeing the scene. Police say the second incident involved two separate attempts at the same residence. Just after 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, South Precinct officers responded to a report of an attempted home invasion near the intersection of Beacon Avenue South and South Ferdinand Street.
The homeowner told police that three men tried to break his door down but they were unsuccessful. The suspects fled in a vehicle. The second attempt at the same residence occurred around 12:25 a.m. on Thursday. Four male suspects tried to break the door down with a sledgehammer. The victim heard the banging and grabbed a rifle.
When the suspects attempted to enter the home, the homeowner shot at them. The suspects returned fire as they retreated before fleeing in a vehicle. The homeowner was not injured. It is not known if any of the suspects were shot during the incident. Police found bullet damage to the living room and bedroom windows.
Authorities say the robberies have similar circumstances. All victims were of Asian descent and the suspects were all black males, according to authorities.
