Irvine Police Department responded to The Murphy at Alton Parkway and Murphy Avenue on December 22, 2023, to investigate a report of a burglary. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect leaving the area in a van. A vehicle pursuit ensued.

The vehicle pursuit ends in Santa Ana when the suspect crashed the van. The suspect fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued.

Anaheim Police Department’s helicopter assisted in locating the suspect.

Authorities identified the suspect as 28-year-old Luiz Ortiz of Santa Ana, California. The van involved in the burglary was stolen but unreported by the owner.

Ortiz was remanded to the Orange County Jail on multiple charges.
