The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Homicide Unit is currently investigating a fatal stabbing. Around 11 a.m. on December 23, officers responded to a domestic violence related assault with a deadly weapon in the 6400 block of Hermsley Road. At the scene, officers found a female victim with life-threatening stab wounds.

Charlotte Fire and MEDIC reached the scene to render aid, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives with the Homicide Unit responded to investigate. Crime Scene Search processed the scene and collected physical evidence.

As part of the initial investigation, officers located and apprehended a male suspect not far from the crime scene. The suspect’s information will be released following family notifications and processing.
