US Marshals arrests Kansas child sex abuse suspect Ben J Baxter

The United States Marshals have tracked down and arrested a man who was wanted out of Kansas for alleged child sex abuse. 51-year-old Ben J. Baxter was wanted on a felony charge of sodomy with a child who was under 14 years of age. The crime allegedly occurred between June 27 and July 1 of this year. Baxter has been booked into the Jackson County Jail while awaiting extradition back to Kansas.

On December 22, 2023 around 2:33 p.m., Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office personnel were led to a remote residence on Murphy Gulch Road west of Wimer, Oregon. Authorities located Baxter leaving a residence and took him into custody without incident.

Baxter reportedly wrapped multiple phones in aluminum foil to avoid detection but was unsuccessful in avoiding capture.
