DC Police investigating quadruple shooting with two fatalities

The DC Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a quadruple shooting early Thursday. Detectives with the Homicide Branch are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect responsible for the shooting. Around 11:50 a.m. on December 21, 2023, MPD officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of Half Street Southwest.

At the scene, police found three men and one woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The female victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The three male victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. One of the male victims has passed away. The two other men remain in critical condition.

The suspect vehicle was caught on surveillance cameras. It is described as a white 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Maryland plate 2FD0820, a sunroof, and tinted windows. A vehicle matching that description was stolen in an armed carjacking the day prior near Blair Street and Kansas Street NW. MPD later said it believed it had located the vehicle in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

In a statement, Chief Pamela A. Smith said a group of individuals was at a corner store when a white Jeep came around the corner and someone in the vehicle discharged a firearm.
