The Metropolitan Police Department has announced an indictment against two men in connection to a fatal shooting last year. Following a 22-month investigation into the February 23, 2022 shooting of 38-year-old Julio Delima in the 3300 block of Ezell Road, two men are facing charges of first-degree murder.
23-year-old Hugo Rosales-Aguilar was apprehended by Specialized Investigations Division detectives at a Packard Drive apartment complex. Authorities allege that Rosales-Aguilar was the shooter in the case. 20-year-old Josue Flores-Mercado was allegedly with the defendant when the murder occurred.
Flores-Mercado was already in jail for an unrelated robbery when the murder indictment was returned. Detectives say the investigation showed that Delima was in a Nissan Altima when a passenger from another vehicle opened fire on his car. It is believed that the motive is related to a dispute over a woman.
Each defendant has a bond of $200,000.
