The Upland Police Department has announced the arrest of three suspects in connection to the fatal shooting of Johnny Escalante. On May 6, 2023, 18-year-old Anthony Tolesmiller, 21-year-old Michael Tolesmiller, and 19-year-old Brazjon Nolan allegedly fatally shot Escalante during a robbery. The suspects were quickly identified and apprehended.

All were released within days due to pending forensic processing, according to authorities. Members of the Special Investigations Unit with the Upland Police Department located and arrested the last of the three suspects again on December 21, 2023. They are charged with murder.
