Anchorage Police arrest Malik Allen for hit-and-run collision causing life-threatening injuries to pedestrian

The Anchorage Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect involved in a hit-and-run. Just before 2 a.m. on December 2, 2023, Anchorage Police responded to a hit-and-run vehicle versus pedestrian at the intersection of West 4th Avenue and East Street. Officers determined that a Ford Expedition was traveling eastbound on 4th Avenue when the Ford struck an adult female who was in the roadway but not the crosswalk.

The driver allegedly stopped initially but left the scene without contacting authorities. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were later determined to be life-threatening. At this time, the victim is still alive.

On December 3, officers with the Anchorage Police Department located the Ford Expedition they believed to be involved in the collision. The SUV was impounded from an apartment complex in the 5600 block of Lake Otis Parkway. Once a search warrant was obtained, the vehicle was searched.

Investigators say the Ford’s driver was 26-year-old Malik A. Allen. On December 18, an arrest warrant was obtained on charges of Failure to Render Aid, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Driving on a Suspended License. Allen was contacted at his residence and placed under arrest on December 19.
