On October 29, 2023, a 60-year-old male allegedly took jewelry valued between $5,000 and $7,000 from a vendor at the Jacob Javits Center. New York State Police investigators received CCTV footage of the suspect putting the jewelry into a bag.

On October 31, 2023, the suspect returned to the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan. The Bureau of Crime Investigation arrested and charged the suspect, identified as Bruce Lopez, with Grand Larceny and Criminal Trespass.

Lopez was taken to Manhattan Central Booking, according to the press release.
