The Chicago Police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in a double shooting from July of this year. Members of the Chicago Police Department arrested 22-year-old Daitwon Cobbins in the 7000 block of South Sangamon Street on December 17, 2023. Authorities say he was identified as one of the offenders who fatally shot a 57-year-old man and seriously injured a 51-year-old man in the 7000 block of South Laflin Street on July 26, 2023.

Following the shooting, Cobbins allegedly took the victims’ belongings. He is charged with First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery/Discharge Firearm, Robbery – Armed With Firearm, First Degree Attempted Murder, and Murder – Other Forcible Felony.
