The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting of a 17-year-old who was waiting to pick up his girlfriend at school. Earlier today, HCSO deputies responded to the 5800 block of Brenwood Trails Lane in reference to a shooting. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified the victim as 17-year-old Jake Mason.

Authorities say Mason was waiting at the location to pick up his girlfriend who is a student at the school. The victim was with a group of unidentified males when an altercation occurred. At some point, an unidentified male shot Jake who was pronounced deceased.

The suspected shooter fled on foot. HCSO said the suspect is a black male juvenile wearing all black. The motive is unknown at this time. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
