Thaniyyan Veney Admits Guilt To Striking 5-Year-Old With Vehicle In Washington

On December 19, 2023, 33-year-old Thaniyyah Veney pled guilty to aggravated assault while armed with a vehicle steaming from a July vehicle vs. pedestrian crash.

According to the report, Veney was driving under the influence of alcohol when she struck a five-year-old girl in the 3200 block of Forth Street, SE on July 8, 2023. The young victim was in the company of her father when Veney drove into her.

The vehicle drove into the victim and never stopped until it struck steps in front of a home. Veney emerged from the vehicle and entered a nearby alley while the victim was still trapped under the vehicle.

First responders utilized a ladder to create a makeshift lever to lift the vehicle until the victim was moved. The girl was transported by helicopter to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The sentencing date is scheduled for February 23, 2024.
