Update – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has identified the victim as Frankie Chaparro Jr. Police say the victim’s next of kin has been notified. No additional details are available at this time.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the early hours of December 19, 2023. Detectives with the Homicide Unit are investigating a homicide in the 3900 block of West Tyvola Road in the Westover Division. Just before 2 a.m. on December 19, officers responded to the scene for a welfare check.

Once officers reached the scene, they discovered a victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Homicide Unit detectives responded to assume control of the investigation. Crime Scene Search responded to process the scene and collect evidence.
