The Hoquiam Police Department announced on social media that it is investigating a shooting incident in the 2500 block of Cherry Street. Just after 10:00 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a scene in response to a subject who’d been shot.

Upon arrival, police located a juvenile male with an apparent gunshot wound. Aid personnel stabilized the juvenile before he was transported to Harbor Regional Health for treatment. Detectives are looking for a person of interest who fled the scene before officers arrived.

Authorities say the preliminary investigation suggests this is a targeted incident. There does not appear to be a threat to the public. Anyone with information or video of the area between 10 and 10:15 p.m. is asked to call the non-emergency dispatch number 360-533-8765.
