The Lafayette Police Department has arrested a suspect in a fatal stabbing in the 500 block of New York Street. On November 11, 2023 at approximately 9:58 AM, police officers responded to the scene of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they located an adult male inside the residence who had been stabbed. First responders provided life-saving efforts but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the victim’s identity at a later time.

65-year-old Rick Kite, of Lafayette, was located at a residence in the 200 block of South 6th Street at approximately 10:16 AM. Kite was arrested for murder. Investigators believe there was an altercation between the victim and Kite before the stabbing.
