The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office announced that deputies was involved in an officer-involved shooting this afternoon in Liberty County. According to a social media post from the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, a subject is deceased following an officer-involved shooting. No deputies were injured.

Around 4:30 on December 17, 2023, two Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputies approached an armed man walking near Northeast Todd Pullman Road in Hosford. Authorities say the white male subject had an active arrest warrant. Deputies asked the subject to drop his gun, but the subject refused and raised the gun at the deputies.

Deputies fired striking the subject. Deputies provided medical aid, but the male subject died at the scene. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be investigating the incident. The name of the man is not being released at this time. The involved deputies will be placed on leave per policy.
