The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office announced in a social media post that it was investigating a fatal shooting outside of Garysburg, North Carolina. According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area of Highway 301 outside of Garysburg after a report of a shooting around 1:16 PM on December 16, 2023.

Once deputies reached the scene, they found an adult male on the side of the highway. The victim had several gunshot wounds to his upper body. Authorities have identified the victim as 25-year-old Eric Kendall of Weldon.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Authorities are asking for anyone with information to contact the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office or submit a tip through the Northampton County Crime Stoppers.
