Update – Kerrville Police Department announced earlier today that the murder charge against Ashley Alyce Castillo had been dismissed due to new information obtained during the investigation. Authorities are still investigating the shooting death of Damon Anthony Michael Tampke.

The Kerrville Police Department has announced that a woman has been arrested for murder following a shooting early this morning. According to a social media post from the Kerrville Police Department, KPD officers responded to an apartment in the 2100 block of Singing Wind Drive after receiving a 911 call just before 5 a.m. on December 16, 2023. The caller informed police that a person had shot themselves at the location.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the 911 caller who was identified as 26-year-old Ashley Alyce Castillo. Authorities say 22-year-old Damon Anthony Michael Tampke was located inside the apartment with a gunshot wound to the head.

A handgun was also found inside the apartment. Tampke was transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The Kerrville Police Department said evidence gathered indicates that the gunshot wound was not self-inflicted.

As a result, Castillo was placed under arrest for murder. She was booked into the Kerr County Jail.
