An Arapahoe County jury has found 32-year-old Juan Pablo Pascual-Licea guilty on all charges related to a deadly collision in 2022. The conviction comes following a three-day trial. Court document explains that on April 8, 2022, a mother, father, and their two children were driving home from celebrating their daughter’s birthday.
Their SUV was hit by a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on South Chambers near East 6th Avenue. According to authorities, the investigation showed that Pascual-Licea had been driving more than 80 MPH in the wrong direction when the collision happened. A 10-year-old boy and his father were seriously injured but survived.
The mother and her six-year-old daughter were pronounced deceased after being transported to a hospital. Before the deadly crash, officers with the Aurora Police Department learned that Pascual-Licea had hit a bicyclist and nearly hit a group of teenagers in a crosswalk.
The jury deliberated for less than two hours before finding Pascual-Licea guilty on two counts of Vehicular Homicide – DUI, two counts of Vehicular Assault – DUI, Child Abuse – Knowingly/Recklessly causing Serious Bodily Injury, and Child Abuse – Knowingly/Recklessly causing Death.
Approximately an hour after the crash, the defendant’s blood alcohol content was .181 more than twice the legal limit. Juan Pablo Pascual-Licea is scheduled to be sentenced on February 15, 2024 at 1:30 PM.
