The American Canyon Police Department has announced the arrest of two suspects following a pursuit through the City of American Canyon. According to a social media post from the American Canyon Police Department, an American Canyon Police Department officer saw two individuals casing vehicles in the parking lot of Fairfield Inn and Suits around 2:30 AM this morning.
The officer became aware that the suspects were associated with a stolen Chevy truck traced back to Alameda. The pursuit began in the City of American Canyon and escalated onto Highway 80. During the chase, authorities say the suspects threw numerous construction tools from the windows of the truck. The California Highway Patrol joined the pursuit and attempted to deploy spike strips to disable the suspect vehicle.
The pursuit eventually ended in Oakland where the suspects barricaded in the backyard of a residence. Oakland Police Department SWAT officers aided other members of law enforcement to bring the pursuit to a resolution. The American Canyon Police Department has identified the suspects as 28-year-old Josue Valdez Amezcua and 24-year-old Hector Garcia Hernandez.
Authorities say the suspects were in possession of a stolen vehicle, stolen property, and a 9mm handgun stolen out of Sacramento. They’re facing charges of fleeing with reckless disregard for public safety, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
The suspects were transported to Napa County where they were booked on the aforementioned charges.
