Harris County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to 17417 Red Oak Drive, Inverness At Westador apartments, last night to investigate a report of a shooting. Responding deputies located a 33-year-old female deceased inside her apartment.

Following a preliminary investigation, detectives determined the female victim was shot by her 51-year-old boyfriend. After shooting the victim, the suspect fled and returned to the scene later with a one-year-old child who they share together.

The victim was later identified as Ashley Davis of Houston. The suspect has been identified as Richard Mitchell of Houston.

On December 15, 2023, at approximately 7:00 p.m., deputies located a vehicle at 6510 N Sam Houston Parkway E, near Eastex/59, with a deceased male inside. Deputies believe the deceased male is Richard Mitchell.

The investigation is ongoing.
