The Greenville Police Department is investigating a homicide. According to a social media post from the Greenville Police Department, officers responded to a homicide in the 900 block of Caldwell Drive around 6:40 PM on December 13, 2023. Upon arrival, officers discovered 42-year-old Derrick Barnes lying on the floor with an apparent gunshot wound.

The Washington County Coroner’s Office pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. Although detectives were able to collect evidence from the scene, no suspect has been arrested at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 662-378-8477.
