A 50-year-old male is in custody following a preliminary investigation of a shooting in Avoca. Terry C. Long was remanded to the Steuben County Jail on first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

New York State Police was dispatched to 8653 Wagner Hill Road to investigate a report of a shooting. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a 47-year-old female victim suffering from a facial gunshot injury.

Responding medics transported the female victim to Noyes Hospital for treatment. The victim was later transferred to Strong Memorial Hospital where she is in “guarded condition”.
