The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 20-year-old Batavia Township man who is charged with Endangering Children and Felonious Assault for allegedly causing injuries to his infant son.
The Sheriff’s Office Investigative Unit was contacted by the Clermont County Children’s Protective Services around 1:15 PM on December 8, 2023. Children’s Protective Services reported that a 2-week-old male had been transported by his mother to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for treatment of symptoms that presented to an eye infection.
When hospital staff examined the child, they identified additional injuries, including a skull fracture, injuries to his mouth, and bruising to the child’s arms and legs. The infant was admitted to the hospital for further treatment.
Physicians at Children’s Hospital determined that the injuries were likely the result of recent trauma. Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office responded to the hospital to interview the mother and father in an attempt to determine the cause of the injuries. Detectives determined the child’s injuries occurred at their residence at the Crown Station Apartments in Batavia Township.
A search warrant was executed at the residence to collect evidence and process the scene. The child’s father, 20-year-old Dezmond Wallace, was cooperative and admitted to detectives he was responsible for injuries to the child, according to authorities. Wallace was charged with Endangering Children and Felonious Assault.
