The Birmingham Police Department has announced it is conducting a double-homicide investigation after three people were shot in the Norwood community. At around 8:35 PM, 911 dispatchers began receiving multiple calls of shots fired in and around the 3000 block of 12th Avenue North.
North Precinct officers were informed that a female had been shot at the Chevron at 3019 12 Avenue North. Officers arrived at the Chevron and discovered an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers learned the female victim had driven a white sedan to the gas station.
Upon further examination, officers observed an adult female and an adult male inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. They were pronounced deceased at the scene. The surviving female victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe all three victims were shot at a separate location near the 3000 block of 12th Avenue North. Detectives believe the surviving female victim drove all three to the Chevron for help. No one is in custody at this time.
