The Redding Police Department has announced the arrest of an alleged car thief following a pursuit through Redding. A social media post from the Redding Police Department explains that officers located a vehicle that had been reported stolen during the morning of December 12. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled.
The driver has been identified as 32-year-old Robert Croninmills of Shingletown, California. Redding Police Department officers and California Highway Patrol ground units and Air Operations pursued the vehicle. At one point, officers discontinued the chase due to safety concerns while CHP air operations monitored the vehicle.
The suspect abandoned the vehicle at Willis Street and Gold Street before fleeing on foot, according to the Redding Police Department. Later, Croninmills was apprehended without incident. He was booked into the Shasta County Jail for Vehicle Theft, Felony Reckless Evading, and Driving Under the Influence of Narcotics.
Authorities say Croninmills was also found to be on active parole for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. A hold was authorized.
