According to a social media post from the Montgomery County Police Department, a 16-year-old female victim is recovering after being shot during a block party in Silver Spring. On June 2, 2023 just before 10 PM, 3rd District officers responded to a block party in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane after receiving multiple calls of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers found a teenage victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 2nd and 4th district officers responded to the scene to assist and detectives processed the crime scene. Detectives say a group of people were at a block party when a dark-colored sedan with three or four occupants drove up and began shooting into the crowd.

Only the teenage girl was injured during the shooting. Three vehicles parked at an apartment building were also struck by bullets. Authorities recovered more than 30 shell casings from a handgun and high-powered rifle. The investigation is active and ongoing. There are no suspects in custody.
