A Kevil Kentucky man and woman are facing animal abuse charges, as reported by KFVS. The Ballard County Sheriff’s Department explains that an investigation into animal cruelty at a residence in the city limits of Kevil resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old Leah G. Cowen and 23-year-old Matthew Cowen Jr. After deputies searched their residence on November 7, both were arrested. The Ballard County Sheriff’s Department said deputies and Ballard County Animal Control officers found several abused and neglected cats.

They also found four dead casts. In total, 25 cats were taken from the home and given to nonprofits for treatment. Matthew Cowen Jr. and Leah Cowen are charged with 29 counts of torture cat with serious injury or death.
