Jane Wakefield was a 26-year-old schoolteacher in North Liberty, Iowa. While going through a divorce with her husband, Jane moved into the Bon Aire Mobile Home Park to have a place of her own. The divorce was prolonged because the couple struggled to decide how to split businesses owned by Jane’s husband, John. Jane disappeared sometime between late September 6 and early September 7, 1975.
She spent the day on a cross-country bike trip with friends but left after telling friends she had to get back for an appointment. A neighbor spoke to Jane that afternoon and noticed nothing out of the ordinary.
Neighbors heard screaming that night, but there was a party nearby that could’ve been the explanation. A friend visited on Sunday and no one answered the door.
When Jane Wakefield didn’t show up to her job at Penn Elementary School in North Liberty, school officials phoned the mobile home park. The park manager contacted Jane’s current boyfriend. Together, they visited her trailer and found nothing unusual.
People were immediately called. This video will go through the events leading up to Jane’s disappearance as well as the theories formed after her disappearance. Be sure to join our Facebook group here to discuss this case and current cases.
