Update – Around 10 PM on December 7, 2023, the San Diego Police Department received a report of a stolen vehicle along with a suspect description. Around 11:30 PM, officers located the vehicle in the shopping plaza in the 10500 block of 4S Commons Drive in San Diego. The suspect was reportedly inside a store.

Authorities say officers attempted to contact the suspect who fled from the store. While outside, the suspect fired at least one round at officers. One officer was struck in the head. Multiple officers discharged their firearms leading to the suspect being struck multiple times. Medical aid was rendered to the suspect and the officer. They were transported to the hospital. The suspect was pronounced deceased around 1 AM.

The Police Sergeant is in serious but stable condition.

Original Story – The San Diego Police Department has said that a Sergeant has been shot during an investigation. According to a social media post from the San Diego Police Department, a San Diego Police Sergeant was shot during an investigation at the 4S Commons Town Center.

In return, an officer-involved shooting occurred. According to authorities, the Sergeant and the suspect have been taken to the hospital. There is no word on the extent of their injuries at this time. Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting or what the Sergeant was investigating at the time of the incident.
