The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office has announced in a social media post that a murder suspect surrendered to authorities. The Sheriff’s Office received a BOLO, be on the lookout, from the Batesville Police Department in connection to a murder suspect for a slaying that occurred in Batesville, Mississippi on December 7, 2023.

The BOLO was issued for 26-year-old Jamari Tyrice Barnes. Tunica County Sheriff’s Office deputies managed to contact Barnes over the phone regarding a warrant for his arrest. Authorities say Barnes met deputies in Tunica County and was taken into custody without incident at 10:55 PM.

Barnes was transported to the Tunica County Jail before the Batesville Police Department was notified. The homicide investigation is being handled by the Batesville Police Department.
