The Austin Police Department announced it is investigating a fatal stabbing that happened on December 3, 2023 around 8:33 PM. Officers with the Austin Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at the 7-Eleven in the 10800 block of Research Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying on the ground inside with an apparent knife wound.

The victim was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim has been identified as Chad Barron. Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to the scene. Detectives say they determined that Barron was stabbed by a suspect at the nearby intersection.

Then, Barron walked into the 7-Eleven where he fell to the ground. The suspect left the scene on foot immediately after the stabbing. Anyone with information about the stabbing should contact the Homicide Unit at 512-974-TIPS.
