Clayton County, Georgia – The Clayton County Police Department has announced two arrests in connection to a shooting in the 5700 block of Old Dixie Road in Forest Park on January 9, 2025.

According to a CCPD statement, 18-year-old Jaylind Banks was ambushed, beaten, robbed, and shot. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh requiring multiple surgeries.

CCPD says Banks provided detectives with information that helped identify the suspects.

Arrest warrants were obtained for 17-year-old Mykel Brown and a 15-year-old juvenile. They are charged with Criminal Attempt – Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Crime.

On January 31, 2025, CCPD says the juvenile was taken into custody. He was in the presence another juvenile who was identified as a third suspect. All three individuals are in custody.
