Albany, New York – The Albany Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man.

According to an APD statement, officers responded to the area of 396 Central Avenue for reports of a shooting around 5:40 p.m. on January 30, 2025.

At the scene, responding units located a 30-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the groin. APD says the victim was transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital where he passed away.

The victim’s name is not being released at this time. APD says a person of interest is being questioned and there is no threat to the public.
