Austin Police Department investigating homicide on South 6th Street

The Austin Police Department has announced that it is investigating a homicide in the 1100 block of South 6th Street. The Austin Police Department Homicide Unit received multiple tips that a murder had occurred months prior at the West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt on November 27, 2023. The information included that the victim had been buried at the location.

Homicide Unit detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to the scene with a search and rescue K9 on November 29, 2023. During the investigation, detectives say they found skeletal remains within the greenbelt consistent with the information provided by the tipster.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office collected the remains with assistance from the Texas State Anthropology Department. The identification is pending. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy which reportedly revealed injuries consistent with a homicide.
